First Friday night in Daegu!
My friends and I took a train from Yeungnam Dae (which is conveniently located outside the international center) to Banwoldang, almost to central Daegu. This is pretty much the shopping center of Daegu. The ride was almost 30 minutes long since we had to go from the edge of Gyeongsan, which is where I actually live, to Daegu.
However, Daegu’s subway station has a flat rate of 1200 or 1100 won if you have the TOP Card, so distance is not an issue. However, the ride is an hour back and forth …
The Streets at Dongseongno was decorated with Christmas decorations! I was here two years ago but we just walked around at night and had dinner and dessert.
The main shopping street of Daegu is lined with large and small boutiques as well as department stores.
We came here to find food, and my friend found a 닭갈비 place, which she knows the store location by heart. I should have taken down the address! She knows the maze-like street pretty well. I am quite amazed.
It was about 7000 won per person without tips or taxes!! It seems to be a popular place with foreigners too. At the end, we can even order rice to finish off the sauce! I love that!
After dinner, we went shopping for pants. The thing with being a foreigner here is that the clothes are too small or too tight. If it fits the waist, the length may be too short and vice versa. … But for me, it’s great!!! I don’t have to tailor it like I do back in Vancouver. I think some stores like Uniqlo does provide tailing for a cheap price.
At night, the streets are still busy with people and feeling festive!
There is also busking on the streets too… I don’t know if they need a license or not but some people just bring their own karaoke box and sing while others are in a group. Some are more popular than others, earning a little bit more. Sometimes, there is even karaoke challenges, which attracts a lot of viewers.
The rest of the evening was spent at the coffee shop 🙂
Merry Christmas ¬¬¬¬ FYI: the last train to leave from Bangdangwol to Yeungnam Dae is 11:33 🙂
P.S. I also found that the school sells cheap food.
