11 일째 – Anjirang Gopchang Town (안지랑 곱창골목) & E-World – Miga's Travel Blog : Korea (Daegu) Edition

After the misadventure of Apsan, we decided to find food and we thought of going to a traditional market. However, they sold snacks more than actual food; therefore, after a bit of a walk, we turned back and tried to find real food at Anjirang Station!

Near Anjirang Station is a street dedicated to a Daegu famous food – Gopchang. It is basically grilled intestines. It is wrapped in lettuce and/or their special minty flavored Ssam.

I read somewhere the government tried to make the area more appealing to local and tourists alike.

We went to this restaurant because my friend’s friend said it was good. The service was ok. In any case, we ordered a set – one makchang (large intestines) and a gupchang (small intestines) as well as a tofu soup.

After dinner, we head to E-World! During Christmas and right into February, they have winter lights as well as their usual shows (although the show changes every few months or so). We wanted to see the sunset but it already was setting by the time we were at the car park.

However, we can see the Christmas lights all the better now!

We were looking at the prices and to go to the tower itself is 10,000 won. A package including the rides, observation tower as well as the 3D museum is 37,000 won per person. Luckily, my friend was told of the promotion on Coupang – their version of Groupon and literlally bought two tickets for the price of one (The coupon we bought was only for the month of December but there could be other promotions. Furthermore, there is also a night price, which is considerably cheaper).

Since it was winter, there were also lots of winter lights!

This year, E-World has the starlight festival but I think they also have a lightning event every year.

The lights also went around the rides and pretty much anywhere with space. It really did feel like Christmas! Some of my friends went on Christmas Eve, where there was even fireworks.

Since it was a full package, we got to go on the rides too. We didn’t go on all of them due to time but the line up was really short. Normally the lines are longer, particularly in the summer time … In the winter, no one really wants to go on a scary ride AND get blasted with cold air on the face.

E -world also has a parade but I think I missed it because I didn’t look at the schedule …

The rides also included the cable car, which brings you from the bottom of the hill up to the observatory tower (or vice versa). From the cable car, you can see the all the lights below. There are only two people per a car.

Our last stop was the observatory at 83 Tower. The tower is even higher than the Namsan tower!

There isn’t much to do up there though but at least they were thoughtful enough to include a cafe up there (unlike Vancouver).

Finally, the packaged ticket gets us into the 3D museum as well. It seems like it was quite popular in years passed but perhaps not anymore. The ones here aren’t as good as the one I visited in Seoul two years ago. We only got a few good shots.
