The Friday started a little early: I had to go to immigration and then realize I didn’t have to but at least we meet a new friend.
Classes went on as usual and after, I gave the friend I was going to meet, incomplete information and she was waiting for in another town 40 minutes away.
Nevertheless, we met and had food in Gyongsan due to hunger. It is traditional Gyeongsang province food. I don’t know if I wrote this before, but Gyeongsang was known for salty food with bad taste. However, it has improved considerably after Gyeongsang men started marrying Jeolla women, who also makes salty food but tastes good!
The fish was the main dish but there was a lot of bones. It is cut in half and grilled both ways.
… then my friend asked if I had all my things packed up … what things? It turns out that four days ago, I had agreed to go with her to Pohang (because I was being a pain about wanting to visit Pohang, which happens to be my friend’s other home in Korea). Since we were already an hour late and we need to drive 2 hours to get to Pohang … I was on my way to Pohang with only the textbooks in my bag … WOOT! I think it’s going to be memorable.
Actually, she had to take the highway, which costs a bit more because of my lateness … I also happen to eat much slower than Koreans so dinner was also stretched beyond the schedule.
We got here in 1.5 hours thanks to the freeway, which can go up to 100km/hr, I think, but one cares….
We thought about staying in a hotel but my friend’s parents really want her back for the week … ASAP .. since she has been away from home for a while AND she is preparing for her upcoming wedding. I know, I am such a burden. Ah… she has such a cozy home and household….
