Day 3 in Busan. We weren’t sure where to go, perhaps just hang around Yangsan but my friend’s friend phoned and asked if she wanted to go hang out. Therefore, we were on our way to a town called Goryeong, just west of Daegu.
From north Busan it was more than an hour drive. We stopped in the rest area and had some food … I had no idea what that was but it tasted very good 🙂
The zoo is literally in the middle of nowhere. If it wasn’t for the GPS, we would not have found it. We had to go through a path just big enough for one car …
There are approximately 3 ‘guides’ working in the zoo and they give us tours.
The last stop was the tiger cage, where the zookeepers throw meat at the tigers.
Living right next door to the tiger is the cutest rabbit ever!!! It wants food, sorry I don’t have food 😦
It must be feeding time.
Walking inside the building, the guide started to talk about the parrots. They can walk around the room but I believe their wings are clipped so they can’t fly.
… then there is this parrot. Birds get stressed and they start picking off their feathers … this bird is really stressed. I believe it is because it either gets bullied by other birds or doesn’t get the attention it receives. It is so cute! This would be a bird I want to adopt.
… they also have a reptiles area. Pretty much all the birds and reptiles here you can touch. The zookeeper even puts them on kids hands and head.
… he encouraged everyone to hold the turtle. The turtle was really heavy and when he is on the air, he tried to swim away.
… another little reptile makes its appearance.
You can even wrap around yourself with a snake…
The goat can’t get up …
That was it … this is the minimal zoo.
Goryeong is known for their strawberry farms!! We passed by many but did not stop to purchase any. I think this is why strawberries are cheaper in Daegu.
My friend’s friend drove me back to Gyeongsan, where we had Japanese food.
… finishing the day off with the usual green tea 🙂

The zoo has an official blog and this is their address. They also have discounts on Korean sites like Coupang 🙂
