It is the final week before the final test and here I was …. going on another trip! This time to nearby Palgongsan. I underestimated how big Palgongsan is … it spans five different cities and districts within the Gyeongsangbuk-do Province! I thought the cable car was a short cut to get to Gatbawi, the statue carved into the mountain … but more on that later.
We met up with our Korean friend from last night at Beomeo and he taught us how to take a bus in Daegu!!! It is quite simple, if you are transferring to another bus, you have to tap out. If you are not transferring, it doesn’t matter.
Traveling: from Beomeo Station, we went took 814 bus to Dong-gu Office and then Express bus 1 to Donghwasa Temple. That took almost an hour and them some more … It was a bumpy ride, to say the least 🙂
When we got to the mountain, the first thing I wanted was — FOOD! The area was quite quiet because there was a lot of hikers to brave the snow and ice coldness of this Daegu winter.
After lunch, we walked to the cable car entrance. This is their bunny mascot!
I thought the cable cars were similar to the ones in Apsan where you have 100 people in a gondola and go up at once, but it was a real cable car!
At the top was … a view … There was still a bit but of snow and it was very cold, but it air was great!
We walked around and then asked the people working at the cafeteria … where is Gatbawi? Gatbawi wasn’t found in this part of the mountain apparently!!!! The cable car here takes is to the observatory deck, and we can walk around a smaller hiking paths.
Unfortunately, the mountain had covered in bits of snow, which makes it cold and difficult to walk 😦
Therefore, we went into the cafeteria and had a hot chocolate 🙂
From the top, we saw that there was another hiking path downstairs!
It was called Lover’s lane and perhaps this is why! There are hearts everywhere.
… After some photos, we took the gondola back down again.
The way down was just as spectaular. They also have a blankets so you dont get cold 🙂
.. and that was our cable ar experience!
